Cllr. Gianni Carofano

Gianni Carofano has been selected as the Conservative Mayoral Candidate for the 2019 Local Elections.

Born and bred in Bedford, Gianni is married with 4 children and lives in Biddenham. He read law at university and after a career as a bank manager at HSBC, he joined the family vehicle repair business as a partner and became a Borough Councillor in 2015.

His activities include being a qualified football coach at Bedford Town FC and singing in a local band.

“I believe my experience in running a business would be an essential quality required of being a Mayor. Too often across Councils, political decisions are made instead of sound, business decisions. I would therefore ensure that savings are made wherever possible so that more money can be spent on key services, as well as services to benefit communities.

For the council to deliver proper, value for money services across the Borough, a Mayor should work with ALL councillors across all parties. I would make sure that Bedford Borough is not held back by party politics, and will always put the interests of residents first."
